Oil
Powerful New Product Line of Racing Oil wholesale pricing
AMSOIL is pleased to introduce a new series of Dominator
Synthetic 5W-20, 10W-30 and 15W-50 Synthetic Racing
Oil. The three new premium synthetic racing oils are specially formulated to
withstand the rigors of high-performance and racing applications.
Racing and high-performance engines subject motor oil to elevated RPM,
high temperatures and shock-loading. AMSOIL Dominator Synthetic Racing Oils were developed to address these
extreme conditions and provide high-quality AMSOIL performance and protection for a variety of racing
applications. All three Dominator oils feature the same additive package, providing maximum durability in
multiple viscosities. Their shear-stable formulation was engineered to provide maximum horsepower without
sacrificing engine protection. Dominator Racing Oils provide straight-grade protection in a
multi-grade formulation.

Q: Do i need high zinc in my oil ?
High zinc is only needed for flat tappet cams, engine break-in and High
Horsepower racing applications. If your not in need of high zinc for those reasons, it doesn't matter
which oil you use although Amsoil 10w40 and 20w50 and AHR 60 all have zinc added
as well as Amsoils Dominator line of racing oils. I use Amsoil SSO, 0w30
in all my vehicles. This use to be the racing oil, but now is marketed for passenger and high horsepower street
engines as well. It has a guarantee
of 1 yr / 35k mile drain intervals, whichever comes first in passanger
car applications. Amsoil stands behind their product 100 percent and uses only the finest quality
additives and base stocks, not looking to make a more profit by cutting corners or by selling a product
with less than perfect materials.
Q: Synthetic motor oil is not good with flat
tappet cams!!!
This is by far one of the biggest myths out there.
Sulfur in motor oil actually acts as a contaminant that promotes the formation of
sludge and other by-products of lubricant break-down. It is true that PAO based synthetics contain no sulfur
because they are formulated from pure chemicals rather than refined from crude oil. Conventional motor oils do
contain trace amounts of sulfur; the portions that cannot be refined out. I'm sure what you are referring to is
Zinc and Phosphorous which is an important component when running flat tappet
camshafts.
It could also depend on what type of synthetic oil you are referring to. If it is
an API (SM) rated synthetic motor oil, then you would have reduced levels of Zinc and Phosphorous, and this
would indeed be a bad choice with a flat tappet camshaft.
Below is a direct quote from an Amsoil Technical Service
Bulletin.
FLAT TAPPET CAMSHAFTS
Issues:
Engine oils contain anti-wear additives and the most common anti-wear chemistry
is zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZnDDP), which contains a combination of zinc and phosphorus. In 2005, in an
effort to guarantee catalytic converter performance in new vehicles, the American Petroleum Institute (API) and
International Lubricants Standards Approval Committee (ILSAC) instituted API SM and IL-SAC GF-4 quality
standards which reduced the maximum limit for phosphorus to 0.085% and 0.080% respectively. Both API SM and
ILSAC GF-4 specifications also contain a minimum phosphorus content of .065% and .060%.
Previously, API SL/ILSAC GF-3 oils were restricted to 0.10% phosphorus level, so
a concern arose that oils containing lower levels of zinc/phosphorus could provide insufficient protection in
high pressure areas of flat tappets and camshaft lobes found in many older cars and high-performance
engines.
Technical Discussion
Proper assembly lubes and oil additives should be used during the break-in phase
for all new or rebuilt engines with flat tappets. These additives provide the extra protection required at the
point of contact during break-in to help the flat tappet face to properly mate with the cam lobe. Once the
break-in phase is completed, these additives should not be used because of other engine life issues created by
long term use of these materials. AMSOIL does not provide break-in assembly lubricants, but one of the common
products is GM, E.O.S., which is an assembly lubricant and is not, as stated by GM, an engine
oil additive. AMSOIL does not recommend using any engine oil additives with AMSOIL engine
lubricants.
High-performance modified engines benefit from oils with superior film strength
and anti-wear properties. The flat tappet/camshaft lobe interface is the one area in an engine that has extreme
contact load. This load increases significantly where non-stock, high-pressure valve springs are employed so
the use of properly formulated engine lubricants is extremely important to reduce wear and extend flat
tappet/camshaft life. In these applications,
AMSOIL recommends motor oils containing high levels of zinc/phosphorus for
superior protection.

Dominator 2 cycle for Boats, snowmobiles,
Motorcycles

Product Application
DOMINATOR is recommended for use in high performance stock or modified two-cycle motors, including air or
liquid cooled snowmobiles, personal watercraft, motorcycles (Moto X), ATVs, go-carts and outboard motors*. Good
for use with coated or non-coated pistons, high-octane racing fuels and exhaust power valves. Compatible with
most other two-cycle oils, however, mixing oils should be minimized.
Use at 50:1 pre-mix ratios (2.6 oz. oil per U.S. gallon of gas) or as injection oil where JASO FC or API TC
oils are specified. Not suitable for use with alcohol or nitro-methane fuels.
Product Description
DOMINATOR, an AMSOIL exclusive formulation, lubricates and protects high performance two-cycle motors, both on
and off the track. High performance motors, particularly those that are modified, operate hotter and at higher
RPMs than recreational motors, and they need good oil for peak performance. DOMINATOR is engineered for racing.
It has the right film strength and clean burning properties for “on the edge” operation.
• Provides excellent film strength for high heat, high RPM motors
• Reduces friction for maximum power
• Recommended for use with coated or non-coated racing pistons
• Recommended for use with exhaust power valves
• Recommended for use with high octane racing gas
• Burns clean; Prevents ring sticking and plug fouling
• Provides excellent protection at 50:1 pre-mix or in injection system
Super Film Strength
High performance two-cycle motors have high compression ratios, which significantly increase combustion chamber
heat and crankshaft bearing pressures. Hot combustion processes quickly burn off and evaporate light oils and
cause rapid piston expansion, decreasing piston-to-cylinder wall clearances. This promotes piston scuffing and
possible seizure. And increased pressure on crankshaft bearings promotes metal-to-metal contact, wear and
pitting.
High heat and pressures require tough oil with better film strength and more lubricity. DOMINATOR, constructed
with AMSOIL heavy synthetic oil, handles high heat better than mineral oils and provides improved film strength
and lubricity. DOMINATOR reduces friction and provides an extra measure of protection against piston scuffing
and crankshaft bearing wear.
Clean Burning
High combustion processes require the proper additives and oils to control deposits. DOMINATOR contains strong,
high temperature detergent additives and highly pure AMSOIL synthetic oil. It prevents deposits that cause ring
sticking, plug fouling and exhaust port blocking. DOMINATOR is an optimized product for severe service.

Break-In Oil (SAE 30) - BRK
Designed for High-Performance and Racing Engines
Package sizes include:
1-Quart Bottle
1-Quart Bottles (case of 12)
|
|
AMSOIL Break-In Oil is an SAE 30 viscosity grade oil formulated without
friction modifiers to allow for quick and efficient piston ring seating in new
and rebuilt high-performance and racing engines. It contains zinc and
phosphorus anti-wear additives to protect cam lobes, lifters and rockers during
the critical break-in period when wear rates are highest, while its increased
film strength protects rod and main bearings from damage. AMSOIL Break-In Oil
is designed to increase compression, horsepower and torque for maximum engine
performance.
Quickly Seats Rings
The primary goal during engine break-in is to seat the rings against the
cylinder wall. Properly seated rings increase compression, resulting in maximum
horsepower; they reduce oil consumption and prevent hot combustion gases from
entering the crankcase. To achieve this, however, the oil must allow the
correct level of “controlled wear” to occur between the cylinder wall/ring
interface while maintaining wear protection on other critical engine parts.
Insufficient break-in leaves behind peaks on the cylinder wall that prevent the
rings from seating. The deeper valleys, meanwhile, allow excess oil to collect
and burn during combustion, increasing oil consumption. Too much wear results
in cylinder glazing due to peaks “rolling over” into the valleys and preventing
oil from collecting and adequately lubricating the cylinder wall.
AMSOIL Break-In Oil’s friction-modifier-free formula allows the sharp peaks
on newly honed cylinder walls (fig. 1) to partially flatten. The result
produces more surface area for rings to seat against, allowing formation of a
dynamic seal that increases compression, horsepower and torque (fig. 2).

Protects Critical Parts from Wear
New flat-tappet camshafts and lifters are not seasoned or broken in and must be
heat-cycled to achieve proper hardness. During the break-in period, these
components are susceptible to accelerated wear because they are
splash-lubricated, unlike other areas of the engine that are pressure
lubricated. AMSOIL Break-In Oil contains high levels of zinc and phosphorus
(ZDDP) additives designed to provide the anti-wear protection required during
this critical period.
Increased Film Strength
High-performance and racing engines often use aftermarket parts designed to
increase torque and horsepower. The added stress can rupture the oil film
responsible for preventing harmful metal-to-metal contact on rod and main
bearings. The base oils in AMSOIL Break-In Oil provide increased film strength
to protect bearings from wear.
APPLICATIONS
AMSOIL Break-In Oil is designed to effectively break in high-performance and
racing engines requiring SAE 30 oil, helping maximize compression, horsepower
and torque.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The engine builder’s or manufacturer’s break-in recommendations should be
followed if available. Break-in period should not exceed 1,000 miles. When the
rings fail to seat, the exhaust ports will have a large area of oil residue
(Fig. 3). As the rings begin this process, less oil is passed and the oil
residue area begins to shrink (Fig. 4). When the rings are fully seated and
have formed a tight seal against the cylinder walls, no oil residue will be
evident. Other common methods to determine if rings have seated include
performing a leak-down test or horsepower measurements over time. Break-in
duration will vary between engines. Afterwards, drain and fill the engine with
an AMSOIL high-performance synthetic oil that meets builder or manufacturer
specifications.

Clings Tenaciously to Parts
Because building an engine can take from a few days to many months, using an
engine assembly lube that clings well to parts for extended periods is
critical. AMSOIL Engine Assembly Lube is formulated with a high-viscosity base
oil and a unique tackifier for long-lasting, tenacious cling.
Exceptional Wear Protection
During initial startup, engines operate momentarily with little-to-no oil
pressure, placing camshaft lobes, lifters, rocker arms, bearings and other
critical parts at high risk of wear and failure. In addition to inhibiting wear
by clinging to parts, AMSOIL Engine Assembly Lube contains high levels of
antiwear additives for further protection.
Inhibits Rust and Corrosion
An engine can sit in a garage partially assembled for long periods, allowing
moisture and oxygen to form rust on exposed metal surfaces. AMSOIL Assembly
Lube contains rust and corrosion inhibitors that protect engine components
during inactivity.
Dissolves in Oil
Grease-based assembly lubes can increase the risk of oil port clogging if the
grease is not fully consumed at initial startup, potentially causing engine
failure. AMSOIL Engine Assembly Lube is designed to dissolve in oil, helping
oil ports remain clean, and helping to eliminate deposit formation under the
valve covers and in the oil pan.
Easy and Precise Application
AMSOIL Assembly Lube is packaged in convenient 4-oz. tubes, allowing for
cleaner, more precise application compared to other products.

Boiling Points
As the brake system heats up, brake fluids with low boiling points begin to vaporize. The brake pedal must
travel further to apply the same amount of force on the brakes, causing a spongy feeling. If enough of the
brake fluid vaporizes, brake system failure may occur. Brake fluid boiling points are measured on two separate
scales:
- Dry equilibrium reflux boiling point (ERBP) - the boiling point of new, freshly-opened,
unused fluid.
- Wet ERBP - the boiling point of a brake fluid after it has absorbed three percent
water.
The minimum dry ERBP for DOT 3 brake fluid is no less than 205°C (401°F), and the minimum wet
ERBP is 140°C (284°F). That might not seem very high, but in most brake systems the fluid in the caliper won’t
reach that temperature unless the brakes are abused. It only takes four percent water contamination to bring a
DOT 3 fluid’s boiling point down to the federal limit.
AMSOIL Series 500 High-Performance DOT 3 Brake Fluid is formulated with the best
zinc-based anti-corrosion additives and pH stabilizers. It is designed for high-temperature stability, yet
flows easily at low temperatures. AMSOIL Series 500 High-Performance DOT 3 Brake Fluid's superior additive
package provides good lubrication throughout the system and can raise boiling points to more than 232°C
(450°F). It keeps water in suspension, slowing its effects on the brake system. AMSOIL Brake Fluids have
high boiling temperatures, ensuring maximum life and reliable braking power, even in extreme conditions.
AMSOIL Series 500 High-Performance DOT 3 Brake Fluid has a dry ERBP of 274°C (525°F) and wet ERBP of 156°C
(313°F). AMSOIL Series 600 DOT 4 Racing Brake Fluid has a dry ERBP of 304°C (580°F) and wet ERBP of 210°C
(410°F).
Compressibility
When a fluid is non-compressible it means it won’t compress into a smaller volume when pressure is applied. In
a brake system, fluid pressure is multiplied by the master cylinder and can reach more than 1,000 pounds per
square inch (psi) in the lines. Like any other hydraulic fluid, brake fluid must be non-compressible at the
expected pressures to transmit force from one end of the system to the other while simultaneously lubricating
the pistons and rubber parts as they move through their bores. If the fluid were to compress, all braking power
would be lost. AMSOIL Series 500 High-Performance DOT 3 Brake Fluid remains non-compressible, even at the
highest pressures generated in automotive brake systems. AMSOIL Brake Fluid provides superior stopping ability
under the most demanding conditions.
Brake Fluid Maintenance
Brake fluids fail either because they boil or because they cease to provide adequate lubrication and corrosion
protection. Both reasons for failure are the result of contamination, usually by water or petroleum
products.
DOT 3 and DOT 4 polyglycol ether-based brake fluids are hygroscopic, which means they absorb
water easily and hold it in suspension, similar to antifreeze. In most climates, moisture seeps into the brake
system continuously through the various seals and microscopic pores of the flexible brake lines. This seepage
can accelerate as a vehicle ages and there’s almost no limit to how much water the fluid can absorb. By the
time brake fluid has been in the system for three years, it can easily reach its wet boiling point. Because
this happens gradually, most drivers won’t discover the reduced braking ability until it’s too late.
Many owner’s manuals recommend changing brake fluid every 24 months to remove moisture.
Approximately half of all cars and light trucks in the U.S. over 10 years old have never had the brake fluid
changed. In addition, powersports applications such as motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs require routine brake fluid
changes as well.

- Wet ERBP - the boiling point of a brake fluid after it has absorbed three percent
water.
The minimum dry ERBP for DOT 4 brake fluid is 230°C (446°F), while the minimum wet ERBP is
155°C (311°F). Their higher boiling points make DOT 4 fluids appropriate for high-performance cars and
motorcycles and for vehicles used for towing or in mountainous regions.
